I am participating in "laughter Lives Tuesday" today. I posted this conversation a few months ago, but this is too funny not to share again! I still laugh when I think of this conversation! Enjoy!

Suz: I didn't have any.

I had a date...

Yes. I. did. and it was wonderful!!! Saturday night I spent SIX lovely hours with this baby...Actually, I have spent many hours with him lately and I am enjoying every minute of it! I still can't believe that a few months ago I didn't have a clue as to how to even sew a button on. If it needed a button, it went into the garbage and we would just go shopping.

Not anymore! A few weeks ago, Wade needed me to sew a button on one of his button up shirts. I told him that I would but I needed to find one first. He lifted his shirt and showed me these two little buttons attached on the inside of the shirt...OMG....I NEVER knew what those buttons were for...LOL...He just shook his head at me.. It is such a wonderful feeling to be able to "repair" an article of clothing instead of tossing it. It is also a great feeling to be able to sit down and make something for myself or my family. Oh, back to my Saturday night date....I made this...I have been wanting to do something to our kids/guest bathroom for a while, but I have not seen anything in the stores that I wanted. So what did I do....I loaded everyone up Saturday afternoon and off to Hobby Lobby we went! I had the colors in mind that I wanted to use and when I saw the zebra fabric it all came together in my mind....So this is the finished product...

I have never sewed sewn anything quite as large as this shower curtain (from scratch) so it took me a minute, but I think it all came together great, if I do say so myself. I am proud. :o)

She's a vegetarian....

This conversation took place about a week ago.

Suzannah: Mom, is there meat in mac-n-cheese?
Mom: No, why?
Suzannah: Well, I am a vegetarian and just wanted to make sure.
Mom: You are?
Suzannah: Yes, I just can't do it any more. I can't stand the thought of eating those poor animals.
Mom: Well, that is fine baby, but what are you going to eat?
Suzannah: mac-n-cheese, cereal, oatmeal, PB&J sandwiches
Mom: Oh! Well, okay then, but you know you can't have chicken nuggets anymore.
Suzannah: It is okay. I just get sick to my stomach when I think of those poor animals I am eating......

So...We have a vegetarian now!!!! She has been a full week with NO meat. I thought this was going to be difficult for her because we are a "meaty" family!!! I mean REALLY meaty. It is NO meal if there is not some kind of meat involved, but she has surprised us...once again. When she has her mind made up, that. is. it!!!!!! No turning back. She has been living off of salads, veggies, fruit, cereal, oatmeal and well, anything with NO meat! The boys think she has lost her mind. They just roll their eyes at her. ha.
I have never been around a vegetarian, so this is new to me. Now, when I cook something like spaghetti, I have to take a little bit out before I add the meat. OR I do like I did today and tell her to eat around the meat...ha. I made chicken rotel spaghetti today and forgot to separate a helping for her before I added the chicken.
This is going to be very interesting!!!

She wears me out....

Suzannah is in there playing her Nintendo DS. She is playing some pet game where she has to take care of the animals and such.
She will only play "pet" games.
She runs in here all dramatic and stressed out and this conversation takes place....

Suz: Momma, Momma, I don't know what to do...
Mom: About what?
Suz: This cat just had a kitten and I don't know what to do.
Mom: what do you mean a cat just had a kitten?
Suz: I'm playing DS and this cat just had a kitten and
I can't figure out what to do. I don't want it to die.
Mom: Ummmm...Turn it off.

She is in there now crying to Avery asking him to
help her "take care of the kitten".... This is an electronic game she is playing people!!!!
and she is all stressed out over this darn cat....
DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA

A few weeks ago, I was putting her to bed and she begged me to let her get on her DS to feed the animals. When I replied "no, it is bedtime", she starts crying saying her animals are going to die.
Do I let her get on and feed the animals or do I be the "mean mom" and tell her to go to bed?
We'll just say that she went to bed mad at me that night!!!!! :o)

Christmas Morning

As I said in the previous post, this Christmas was so different. This year all 3 of our kids knew the truth about Santa. Normally, we let them open one gift on Christmas Eve from us and then the rest is for Christmas morning from Santa. We would have everything unwrapped in cute little piles for them to find Christmas morning.
This year everything was wrapped sitting in their pile along with their stocking.
In the past years, they would wake us up at 4 a.m. or so wanting to dig in, but this Christmas everyone slept in until around 7:30....Ahhh, it was SO nice..hee hee hee

They didn't get near as much as they normally do simply because the older they get the more expensive their gifts get..They were very appreciative and excited. Andrew's big gift was an IPOD and Avery got a Nintendo DS. Suzannah got a few DS games and tons of HSM stuff.

"Mrs. Santa" apparently got a few gifts confused. Suzannah was a little confused when she opened up a wireless controller for the PlayStation and Andrew got a Fur Real Pet...It was pretty funny! Luckily, those were the only gifts that were marked wrong, ha!!!

Finishing Christmas...

I have been meaning to get the rest of my Christmas pictures posted and I decided that I was NOT going to bed until I did. Well, I am ready for bed, so here is the last of Christmas with us...

This year my MIL had a hip replacement a week before Christmas. Needless to say, it was a very laid back and relaxing time with them. We decided to get a bucket of chicken from KFC and go the easy way out. :) No meal to cook and no mess to clean. It was great!!!

The kids were a little disappointed when we started passing out gifts and they didn't have but one from Uncle Brandon and Aunt Samantha. You could tell that they were a little upset, but didn't want to say anything....FIL couldn't take their sad faces any longer, so he pulled out their gifts. MIL and FIL bought each of the kids a keepsake ornament...."Just an ornament?", you say....NOT just any ornament. Each ornament had a $100 bill inside of them. You can only imagine their excitement. My kids are at the age where they are not really "into" toys and they are "into" money! Ha! It was great seeing the excitement in their faces! Sweet memories!
Thank you MIL and FIL! We had a blast and the kids used their money very wisely:) We took them shopping the day after Christmas and Wade and I were very pleased with their purchases. They didn't just waste it on junk.

Our nephew, Hunter, was a lot of fun to watch this year as well as our niece, Rylee. They are both at the 'fun' stages and really know what is going on!!!

Duck Hunting

Years ago, I didn't tolerate hunting one bit. If Wade mentioned the word, much less went, I threw down!! I didn't like it, I didn't like him being gone and missing out on family time, etc...I despised hunting!

Here we are today, 7-9 years later, and I LOVE for him to hunt. "Why", you ask? Because the kids go with him now...lol. No really, it has taken me a LONG time to understand and realize that duck hunting is Wade's passion. He LOVES it, and my boys LOVE it, and my daughter LOVES it.

They all have a great time getting up at 3 a.m. to drive for 2 hours to get out in swampy water and walk around while making annoying noises calling in the ducks waiting for the quack quacks to fly over only to shoot them down...Whatever floats their boat, but whatever, the LOVE IT!

I do think that being out with their Daddy and having great quality time together is much better than the kids sitting in front of a PlayStation, Nintendo DS, and/or TV...While there is nothing wrong with all of those thing as my kids have all three, there is so much more to life than electronics and toys. Get out enjoy life and DUCK HUNT for goodness sake... :o)

They went hunting New Years day and my FIL tagged along with them. They had a great time and brought home several ducks. Wade has taught the boys how to "clean" them and whatever that consist of. I don't care to know! I just know in some sort of way, I am proud and glad to see my guys bonding and making so many memories!

Andrew captured this photo of our lab, Sadie, retrieving a dead duck. Not that I am a big fan of hunting, but isn't this just an awesome photo?!!?!! I am actually having it framed today as a surprise for Wade. Shhh, don't tell him! He is out of town working and will be home tonight!

Well, I hope everyone has a happy Saturday! I am off to be productive!
