GO USA

GO Shawn Johnson!!!! She did absolutely BEAUTIFUL on the balance beam!!!! Did you see it???? WOW! I have to admit, I did not get into the Olympics until the past few nights as I don't really watch TV but WOW!!!!! I am just sitting here in awe of this young lady!!!!

Tuesday Memories;)

Okay, Let's see if blogger will let me upload tonight b/c I know so many of you had withdrawals today when you didn't have a Monday Memories to look at;) This sweet memory comes to you because I am totally in need (and want) of a vacation! This was two summers ago at the beach (well of course)

I am totally in the vacation mood. I got out my calendar and counted the days! I have exactly 7 weeks before I will be out of here for 5 glorious days sailing the deep blue sea!!!! OH I can't wait! That is definitely a memory I am ready to make with my husband, my kids, & my family!!!!

Detention Teacher? Maybe....

So, it is NO secret that I DO NOT do homework with my kids. I hate homework, I have NO patience for homework (Daddy, I'm just like you, ha), I would rather do laundry than help with homework....That is Wade's job.
I find out that Suzannah hasn't done her homework...FROM YESTERDAY....this morning when she was walking out the door for school. She failed to give her Daddy the other sheet that had the rest of her homework on it. So it didn't get done so tonight at 8:30, we are doing homework from yesterday and get this...TODAY...She tells us today that she is finished with her homework, when really she isn't!
Her homework from yesterday is to write a sentence using each of her vocabulary words. So, I try to be a good wife and mother and relieve Wade of this and I go to help her when I realize that they were almost done writing her sentences using her SPELLING WORDS, not vocabulary words!!!!!!!!!!! UGHHHHH!!!!! (We'll say he was tired and didn't realize) :) So we have to start all over from scratch!!!! The boys are in their room snickering the whole time as I am fussing and having very little patience.
When I am done helping her, I tell Andrew "I don't think Mom would make a very good elementary teacher". He replies "Yeah, I know, but you would make a good detention teacher"!!!!!
I am SO over it! Good Night!

Missing Her

I miss her so much!!!
If you don't know my story, you can go here to read it.
I do not want to re-live this every year but it is something that just happens!!!! It has happened for the past 11 years and will probably happen until the day I die. I start re-living the days prior to her death and then for a week after. This year will be (and has been) hard as this falls on the day it actually happened (Sunday). I pray that I will get out of bed in the morning in good spirits and be at peace. I pray that I will feel God's arms wrapped around me! I pray that I don't sit here all day long and think of that horrific day and all of it's happenings hour by hour, play by play. Please pray for me to as I feel I will need to be lifted up!

Happy 11 Years to US!!!!

We have had an awesome 11th anniversary!!!!

(we had a fun photo shoot taking pictures of ourselves today, never thought to use the self timer until I was uploading the pictures tonight...lol)

I was woke up this morning at 8:00 to Wade standing over me with red roses and a card!!! So sweet! The rest of our day was very low key but great!!! My MIL & FIL got the kids around lunch today so Wade and I could enjoy the rest of the weekend alone!!!!

We went and had lunch at Newk's aka our favorite restaurant and then we went to Wade's Favorite Store and browsed around for about 2 hours. Hunting season is right around the corner so he is getting pumped up...I joked telling him I am a pretty good wife b/c I spent several hours of my anniversary browsing duck hunting equipment! :) He was having fun and to be honest so was I!!!! We then headed to Wal-mart to pick up a few items then headed home!!!

We spent the evening grilling steaks and just hanging out. Like I said very low key but it has been a wonderful day!!!!

I LOVE YOU WADE!!!!
Happy 11th Anniversary!!!
Thank you for 11 great years!!! Looking forward to many many more!!! You are my world!!!!!!
A BIG thanks to my MIL & FIL for keeping the kids!!!!! We appreciate it sooo much!!!!

The Spirit of Summer Fun

Summer is over (the heat isn't though) and school has started back! Summer is loads of fun always especially for the kids but it is also nice to be back into a routine! Because of our upcoming cruise, we had a pretty low key summer and didn't go on a beach vacation but we made the best of it! From jet skiing, swimming, shopping, PS2, sleeping in, staying up late, riding bikes, jumping on the trampoline, visit to Gran Gran & Nana Sharon's, Geyser Falls, I would say the summer was good!

I have entered a contest held by 5 Minutes for Mom. It is a Summer fun photo contest. The lucky winner wins $500;)!!!!

Looking back through all of our summer pictures, this was my absolute favorite!!! This was the day we went to pick the kids up from my parents. When we arrived, they were all swimming. They were taking turns going down the slide and having to catch the football at the same time. Well, the picture really tells all!!!! He missed, the ball hit him on the head and bounced off! He came up from the water laughing and so were we. It happened sooo fast but was SOOO funny! I love his face in the picture!!!!
Go on over to 5 Minutes for Mom and check out all of the entries! There are some great photos that were entered! I can't wait to see the results;) Good night!

A big Congratulations to Wade's cousin, Adrienne & her now Fiance, Justin on their engagement! I do not know all the details but Justin proposed to her on the beach...Sounds so romantic. We can't wait to hear all of the details! We are so happy for you both! Congrats again Adrienne, you deserve it;) (hope you don't mind, I stole this picture from you;)

Monday Memories

Better late than never, right?

This week's memory is not from too long ago but a wonderful memory indeed.

Being it is my anniversary week(i celebrate all week when it comes to my anniversary, birthday, mother's day, valentines, etc...;), I thought I would dedicate this week's memory to 'us'...We will be celebrating 11 years Saturday, August 16th. This picture is from last summer when Wade and I renewed our marriage vows. What a special day it was!

Happy Birthday Nana

We want to send a shout out to Nana Sharon! She will be celebrating her birthday tomorrow, August 11th. We hope you have a fabulous day and get lots of goodies!!!! You deserve it! We will see you soon!!!!!

We love you!
Wade, Melanie, Andrew, Avery, & Suzannah

Suzannah

To understand this story, I am going to give you a little background information on how we came about Annah Brooke's name when we were pregnant with her 8 years ago.

I had always wanted a girl so when we were told with our 3rd pregnancy that we were having a girl, I was ecstatic to say the least. For a while, I didn't believe it. I just knew it would still come out a boy. Once I allowed myself to believe that I was having a girl, we started tossing around girl names. I am normally a decisive person and have no problem making a decision. I know what I want so when I see/hear it, that is it: End of discussion!
We picked out a few names but nothing was just "it". I HAD to have an "A" name to follow suit with the boys (a little anal but that is what I wanted) and I wanted to name her after my mother. Her name was Suzy. So I was trying to come up with a middle name like Suzy, Suz, Suzanne, etc...The few we liked would not work because her initials would of been A.S.S. and I was not going to do that. They didn't sound right when you flipped the two names either.
So one day I was just sitting on the couch watching the boys play when "boom"....Suzannah Brooke and we will call her Annah Brooke for short. I ran and told Wade and he liked it as well so I got to name her after my Mom and have an "A" name without her initials spelling A.S.S....
I have heard of some kids as they got a little older wanting to be called by their middle name or whatever like my cousin..Her name is Elizabeth and for years we called her "Beth" but a few years back, she decided she wanted to go by Elizabeth. We wondered if Annah Brooke would ever want to be called something else....Well the day has come.
She informed us last week before school that she wanted to be called "Suzannah". She wanted me to tell her teacher and the school so people would start calling her that. Well, I didn't think too much of it and didn't tell her teacher but she came home from school Friday with all of her folders, papers, etc as "SUZANNAH"...She informed me that SHE told the teacher since I didn't. So after almost 8 years of having "Annah Brooke", I now have a "Suzannah". She wants everyone to call her that. Her Daddy don't too much like the idea. He likes his little Annah Brooke but when he told her he wasn't calling her that, she said she wouldn't answer him...ha
Her Mommy will respect her wishes and ask you all to do the same! :) So if you are friends/family reading, please know that we now have Suzannah and please call her by that. It will be a hard change but I will do it;)

Back to school

Long time readers, remember this picture? This was the kids on their 1st day of school last year. THIS...is the kids Friday morning before school. I think, for the most part, that they were ready to get back into the swing of things. They all woke me up at 5 am, YES FIVE a.m. Friday morning. They heard me telling Wade that I was nervous about over sleeping and they set their alarms early to make sure we were all up and no one was late. Well so much for that because Andrew was almost late due to the bus not showing up...They decided Thursday night that they would ride the bus Friday morning instead of me taking them and then the bus never showed up to pick up Andrew...Luckily Wade was almost home so he was able to get him to school just in time as I was still getting ready for work fixing to walk out the door and didn't want to get into that heavy traffic.

Annah Brooke picked out a High School Musical book bag and lunch box a few weeks ago at Wal-Mart and I said "Annah Brooke, I didn't realize you were into High School Musical. "
She said "I'm not really Mom, I really am just into Troy"....Oh Lord....She was so ready to use this book bag today! Now she is even thinking of having a High School Musical Birthday party with a Troy cake. Lovely!
I did a lot better this year with my emotions. Normally I cry like a baby on the first day of school when I drop the kids off and watch them walk into a big school knowing they are another year older. I guess maybe since I didn't take them to school. I did tear up when the bus drove off with Annah Brooke & Avery. I saw her little face watching me from the bus window as it drove off until we couldn't see each other anymore and I got a little teary eyed. Andrew just giggled at me.
I can't belive this is Avery's last year in Elementary school. He will be in MIDDLE school next year!!!! This is Andrew's last year in Middle school as he will be a FRESHMAN next year! Time is just flying by!
I took a few photos of Andrew after the other two left for school while we were waiting on his bus...
They all had a good 1st day. I think we have some good teachers and it will be a good year for them. Annah Brooke had a little homework project for over the weekend (nothing major) and Andrew already has a football schedule so we are getting in gear quickly! Summer is always great but getting back into a routine will be nice! I am off to bed! Goodnight!

Blog Makeover

I can see why people pay to have their blog spruced up!!!! Dealing with all of the HTML codes is frustrating!!!! Not to mention that I like change WAY too much to pay someone to give me a blog makeover every few weeks. I also am the type of person who HAS to know how to do it myself and will NOT stop until I figure it out! So I spent quite a minute today working on my blog and teaching myself how to edit the HTML!!!! I think I FINALLY figured it out for the most part. I can't figure out how to make this middle section even with the sidebars at the top but oh well, I am so over it (for tonight). I am pretty much happy with the new look and I guess that is what matters! What do you think???? Enjoy it now because it is bound to change soon;)

A surprise in the fridge

Don't you love what kids or husbands leave behind for you to clean up??? I open the refrigerator today to get some eggs out and this is what I find.....
The stem but no grapes....Lovely. If you are going to finish off something, the least you can do is throw it in the garbage and not stick it back in the refrigerator;) My favorite is when they put the empty tea pitcher back in there....ughhh!
